  • Paste codes with syntax highlighting in Lotus Notes

Sometimes I need to paste codes in Lotus Notes for discussion. If the codes have syntax highlighting will be nice.

In NotePad++, there is a plugin called “NppExport” which can let you copy the code in the clipboard in RTF format.

In PuTTY, there is a option called “Paste to clipboard in RTF as well as plain text” in Windows -> Selection. Just check it!

  • Enabling Mic Mute button and light on T410

Noticed the mic mute button doesn’t work on T410. Find a solution on askubuntu.com.

On T410, the step A shows following result after run amixer scontrols:

    Simple mixer control 'Capture',0

In step C, the script lenovo-mutemic.sh will be modified to use ‘Capture’ for detecting the event.

The mic mute button works fine now, but it can not keep the status after reboot.

  • T410 Intel 5700MHD driver info.

    It is my T410’s spec.:

    ThinkPad T410 (2522-B53)
    i5-520M(2.4GHz), 4GB RAM, 320GB 7200rpm HD, 14.1in 1440×900 LCD, Intel 5700MHD, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, WWAN option, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure Chip, 9c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro

Its Intel 5700MHD graphic card can not be recognized by Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin).

Found the solution here: “Intel HD Graphics card not recognized in System Info

    Typing it in terminal:
    sudo apt-get install mesa-utils

Then I can see the driver is “Intel® Ironlake Mobile”.

  • Encrypted USB drive

Since my T410 has encrypted drive with LUKS, I started to try to encrypt a 120GB USB drive. It’s very easy. Just plug the USB drive and launch the Disk Utility, then you can format it with encryption.

But I don’t want it ask me password every time when I plug it in, just select “Remember Forever” when input the password.

  • Chair

The chair is different from others. It is a little old and the chair handle has become loose.
